Virtual Driver's Education Classes

Due to COVID-19, driver’s education classes will be offered different than what we normally do.  Classes will be offered virtually using Google Meet.  Normal classes will resume as soon as possible.  You must register online.  See table below for online registration details.  Mr. Powell will notify the first 25 students that they will need to pick up their materials July 10th or July 16th at Stokes Early College, 1165 Dodgetown Road, Walnut Cove, NC  27052.  Students will pick-up materials based on the week of instruction.

Virtual Driver's Education Information

  • Students must register online.  Look for button to register on the Stokes County Schools homepage.
  • Students must be 14 ½ on the first day of class—NO exceptions.
  • There will be four virtual classes offered with a limit of 25 students per class.
    • Week 1—students must be born on or before:  1/20/2006
    • Week 2—students must be born on or before:  1/27/2006
    • Week 3—students must be born on or before:  2/3/2006
    • Week 4—students must be born on or before:  2/10/2006
  • Eligible students will be enrolled first come, first-served.
  • Students must have access to the appropriate technology with a camera and microphone.  Google Meet will be used.  If you do not have appropriate technology, you must wait until face-to-face instruction is available.
  • Class time will be 8:00-2:00, Monday-Friday.
  • Students are required to be in virtual attendance each day for the entire duration of the class.  Due to the nature of virtual learning, there will be no make-up time provided.  If you are not in attendance, you will be dropped from the course.
  • Students must attend private school, home school, or public school in Stokes County.
  • Students must be under 18 years of age.
  • Students must bring the $65 registration fee the day of material pick-up or pay through SchoolCashOnline prior to pick-up day.
  • Pick-up course packet on July 10th or July 16th depending on week of instruction.  Students must present a valid birth certificate, valid passport, or official school transcript with date of birth when picking up their packet.  Students who do not attend one of the Stokes County Schools must submit proof of where they attend school.  Students who do not pick up their packet will not be allowed to take the class and the next registrant will have the option of filling their spot. You will not receive an invitation to join the class without a packet.  The packet will include: Directions for using Google meet, Instruction sheet for coursework, Assignments and Daily Assessments, Directions for submitting coursework, NC Student Handbook, and SBTS-800 Restricted Instruction Permit.
